Glurns...an excursion into a different era
Glurns is a small medieval border and trading town that was first mentioned as a city in 1304. With its completely preserved, impressive Renaissance city walls and gate towers as well as picturesque arcades and grand noble and municipal buildings dating back to the 13th to 16th centuries, it offers the opportunity to experience an authentic atmosphere of times gone by.
The TAUFERER TOR TURM, a gate tower also known as the Kirchporten, forms part of the city walls in the center of the medieval town of Glurns. Each of the four levels of the tower has recently been redesigned with exhibitions in three languages (German, Italian and Rhaeto-Romanic), dedicated to a specific topic.
